Like most churches, the Church of St. Clement depends upon the generous support of its parishioners to survive. It is from pledges from parishioners that the vestry develops the church's budget. The financial support that you provide make it possible for us to do God's work here in our community. Everything from the salary of our excellent clergy, seminarians and support staff to the building and grounds maintenance and all of our ministries are planned in accordance with the budget. These ministries include: Worship, Christian Education, Day School, Communications, Evangelism, Hospitality, Pastoral Care, Administration, Buildings & Grounds, and Outreach.

Just as parishioners tithe to the church, the church tithes to the Diocese of Virginia. Ten cents of every dollar is forwarded to the diocese to support the very important work they do.

The upcoming year includes some exciting new initiatives including our "Tithing To Ourselves" capital improvement campaign. As we approach our 60th year in Alexandria, VA, the church is beginning to show her age, and it is now time to make significant improvements to our beloved house of worship for the years ahead. More details of this program may be found on the adjacent panel.

In addition, the vestry has provided our Day School with a substantial reduction in the rent for next year, which it normally provides the church. The Day School is a ministry of the Church of St. Clement and as such the vestry supports its director in helping to retain great teachers and providing those teachers with the resources necessary to provide an education of the highest order. Our investment in the Day School will allow them to do that.

Of course, we also face our standard increase in general operating expenses that everyone experiences from year to year. When taken in total, you might say that your pledge helps make all of this possible - everything we do in the church to serve the parish and many of those things we do outside of the church to serve the community.

Pledge Today! Dear Fellow Parishioners, In order to create a timely budget for the coming year we ask that all pledge cards be returned by SUNDAY, OCTOBER 28TH, 2007. If you have not had a chance to fill out your pledge card, we hope you'll take the time sometime this week to fill in one, mail it in or drop it in the offering plate on Sunday Our pledges support the Church of St. Clement's community outreach programs, activities, and physical plant. In sharing our blessings we give back to God some of which He has given to us.
